Spring Mayhem

With Local Grizzly Basketball coming to an end we find ourselves waiting for the big showdown tomorrow between the first ranked Louisville Cardinals vs. the fourth ranked Michigan Wolverines. The Wolverines defeated the Syracuse Orange last night after they ran through all of their opponents including the Montana Grizzlies. The Louisville Cardinals escaped against a scrappy Wichita St. mid major team. This showdown should be on for the ages. Louisville’s full court press vs. the incredible Wolverine offense led by Trey Burke the player of the year.

On the Women’s side

This years tournament has met all expectations. As the Baylor women, and Stanford women lost out early. Notre Dame led by Skylar Diggins will face the other number one seed left in the tournament (UCONN). The fifth ranked Louisville women look to pull off another upset vs. Cal to make it to the final game in both men’s and women’s tournaments.

My NCAA Picks

Men’s Championship

Louisville over Michigan

Women’s Championship

In the NBA there is clearly one team that is miles ahead of any other team as playoffs near. The Miami Heat is running full stride to another NBA title. Lebron James is heading the MVP race, and swingman Dwayne Wade is also an MVP candidate. How can you compete with that?

The teams that I think will can possibly compete with the Heat are the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs in the West, and the Indiana Pacer in the East. I don’t see any team coming close to beating the Heat in the playoffs and look to see Lebron and Wade bring another championship to Miami. Especially with Ray Allen and Mike Miller shooting so well.

From Hardwood to the Ice the NHL shortened season is getting interesting. The Chicago Blackhawks have looked dominant all season and the Pittsburgh Penguins are getting better every day. Even though the Penguins lost Sidney Crosby to injury they have too much talent. The playoff race on both sides is intriguing, but I think we will see the Blackhawks facing off against the Penguins for the Stanley Cup.

In other sports worlds Tiger Woods is back and is playing better then ever. Ryan Villapoto is back to is shenanigans as he has dominated the past 6 motocross races in the 450 class. Rafael Nadal is healthy once again and trying to earn the #1 rank in tennis. Jimmy Johnson is driving well and competing to be this years NASCAR champion.
